Litmos Releases California Workplace Violence Prevention Course to Help Meet SB 553 Training Needs
Each year, many Californians report experiencing or witnessing workplace violence. Accounts range from threats and verbal abuse to physical assault and homicide. Organizations across all industries must protect their workers. With the introduction of SB 553, California employers are now mandated to adhere to stringent standards to safeguard their employees from workplace hazards, including violence.
Litmos’ California Workplace Violence Prevention course is here to help. It covers essential information on SB 553 such as defining workplace violence (including the 4 key types), identifying warning signs and hazards, determining individuals and industries at highest risk, reporting requirements, and strategies for prevention. The course is designed to encourage active participation and engagement to enhance information retention. It allows learners to apply what they’ve learned through interactive simulated workplace violence scenarios.
The course also includes information on the Californian Workplace Violence Prevention Plan (WVPP) requirements. By utilizing our Learning Management System, customers can upload their WVPP for learners to read, as well as create and conduct Instructor-led Training sessions to host Q&A discussions. This will enable employees to have the knowledge and resources specific to their WVPP to effectively prevent and respond to workplace violence incidents in their workplace.
Litmos’ California Workplace Violence Prevention course assists employers in meeting the training requirements of SB 553 and their zero-tolerance approach to workplace violence. However, SB 553 requires employees to be trained on procedures and information specific to their employer’s WVPP and their job or role. Litmos’ course alone is not sufficient under the new law.
